Why We Love It

In 1968, Patek Philippe released the Golden Ellipse. Debuting eight years before the iconic Nautilus, the Ellipse—with its distinctive oval shape—was unlike anything else in Patek Philippe’s catalogs.

This example, a Reference 3582G, features a solid 18k white gold rectangular case with hidden "T" lugs and a perfectly quirky rectangular outer dial with an elliptical inner dial with applied indices and a matching handset. Inside Patek's Calibre 23-300 hand-cranking movement powers the watch with its signed crown at the 3:00 position.

This piece is both interesting and awesome, in part due to its obvious and immediate comparison to that other watch that it resembles so closely in both shape and size...
